Investing in the future
Asset Management is a crucial part of IAG’s business. By investing the money we receive from customers in the form of premiums, we ensure we have an adequate pool of money to draw from come claims time.
To help ensure we always have enough in this pool to pay claims in even the most dire of natural disasters, we have a diverse investment portfolio of stocks and fixed income securities. The more diverse our investment portfolio, the lower the risk of losses.
“We are philosophically aligned to companies who are driving long-term, sustainable earnings, so we became a founding investor in Generation,” says John Stratton, IAG’s Chief Investment Officer.
Generation is an investment management firm focused on long-term, concentrated global equity investing. The firm was created in 2004 and is chaired by Hon. Al Gore, former US Vice President.
Our status as founding investor also paves the way for us to access Generation’s research and portfolio managers, which will help us assess future trends.
“Generation’s research will give us an insight into how companies are evolving in terms of delivering long-term value,” says John. “We can then superimpose these trends onto the Australian market and that will help inform our decisions about where we invest in the future.”
