Helping to reduce greenhouse gases
IAG NZ is a key sponsor of WWF-New Zealand. WWF is a science-based organisation that works together with many sectors – government, business, science, environment and community – on a range of environmental and conservation projects.
We support WWF-New Zealand’s climate change program. The program aims to secure measures that reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
WWF's climate change work focuses on ensuring new electricity generation is derived from renewable energy, and that correct climate science is used to determine our government policies, resulting in genuine reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Our partnership is steadily growing, with various activities undertaken in the last year. Some of IAG NZ’s vehicle fleet emissions have been offset through "Green Fleet", planting of trees at various WWF-New Zealand's habitat protection projects. Our employees, through our Helping Out volunteer day program, have the opportunity to head outdoors, plant trees and protect unique species like kiwi at these habitat protection projects.
The production of easy-to-read information on climate change, and simple ideas to help make a difference to our greenhouse gas emissions, is also planned.
“Taking care of our climate calls for varied and positive changes to how we live, at home and at work. The passion and commitment within IAG NZ to respond to climate change has been very rewarding,” said Melanie Hutton, WWF's Climate Change Program Leader.
