WARNING TO SHAREHOLDERS—UNSOLICITED OFFERS FOR SHARES
From time to time, Insurance Australia Group Limited shareholders are contacted by companies offering to buy their IAG shares.
IAG does not endorse any unsolicited offers for IAG shares and IAG has no connection with companies making such unsolicited offers.
While the form of these offers differs, most substantially undervalue IAG shares when compared to the prevailing market price, and in the past shareholders who have taken up these offers have done so at a significant disadvantage relative to what they could obtain on the open market.
Companies which have made such offers in the past include National Exchange Direct Share Purchasing Corporation Pty Ltd, and Hassle Free Share Sales.
Before accepting any offer, shareholders are encouraged to check IAG’s share price on the home page of this site or at the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and seek independent advice.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has published a list of six points for shareholders to be aware of when assessing unsolicited offers.
Under current law, IAG is obliged to provide its share register on request. IAG continues to work with the Federal Government to ensure protection for shareholders against off-market offers are increased.
Trading shares
Rather than accepting an unsolicited offer, shareholders who want to dispose of their holding may wish to consider selling their shares on the open market.
