IAG operates some of Australia's leading general insurance brands including NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO, SGIC and Swann Insurance. In 2009, it also launched an online insurance business called The Buzz.

What we do

IAG's Australian operations distribute a range of personal and commercial insurance products, under several brands. Products are sold:
  • directly to customers through both branch and agency networks throughout Australia as well as via call centres and online facilities; and
  • indirectly to customers through intermediary channels, including insurance brokers, authorised representatives, motor dealerships and financial institutions.

NRMA Insurance

NRMA Insurance is widely known in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania. The brand dates back to 1920 when it was formed as the New South Wales branch of the National Roads Association.

SGIO

SGIO was established in Western Australia in 1926. It was acquired by IAG from the Western Australian Government in 1998.

SGIC

SGIC was established in 1971 by the South Australian Government and acquired by IAG in 1998.

CGU

CGU is one of Australia's largest intermediary based insurers, with a history dating back from the 1860s. IAG acquired CGU in 2003.

Swann Insurance

Swann Insurance sells a range of niche insurance products including consumer credit and motor vehicle related products. IAG acquired Swann Insurance in 2003.

The Buzz

Launched in May 2009, The Buzz is an Australian online insurance business, genuinely shaped by the community. The Buzz interacts with its customers via the internet through the entire lifecycle of their insurance policy—from buying their car insurance policy, right through to making a claim.
